Jane Austen References
Ibthorp is a hamlet situated between Hurstbourn Tarrant and Upton. This was the home of Mrs Lloyd and her two daughters, Martha and Mary from 1792 until 1805. Mary moved form Ibthorp to Deane on her marriage to James Austen in1797. Mrs Stent also lived at Ibthorp with Mrs Lloyd and Martha until Mrs Lloyds death in 1805.
